Eye on Malaysia

I meant to post this about a week back but have been kept busy with random stuff. Had the opportunity to take a night drive to Lake Titiwangsa and witnessed the largest portable wheel in the world. Apparently 60 metres from the lake and the first overhanging a lake, as claimed by the website.

The Eye on Malaysia is built in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007

The banner shows its opening hours but due to overwhelming queues for tickets, they only stop the wheel at midnight and was still selling tickets at 11pm! Who knows, it might even remain as a permanent attraction after 31st Dec 2007 (Click to enlarge)

The ticket prices and the oh-so-common regulations to follow (Click to enlarge)

The ferris wheel from afar, with its reflection on the lake and the twin towers to the right

The "Eye" as we're nearing the ticket booths

The ticket booth resembling one of the "gondolas"

There, the quite-exorbitant prices again

I took a snap of the giant steel structure while waiting in the queue (on the ground, of course)

One of the 42 gondolas, slightly air conditioned and fits a maximum of 8, I think but they were allowing 6 people per gondola. That's comfortable. Forget the VIP one. Whatever for?

After filling up most gondolas, the wheel will turn anti-clockwise for about five rounds. That's approximately 10+ minutes on the wheel. Once at the top, you should be able to see Istana Budaya, the KL Tower and Petronas Twin Towers. Oh, and once at the tip, the gondola shakes. Brrr! Best to be seated on the right of the gondola for good view of the city and landmarks.

A good attempt in imitating the London Eye but well, KL is obviously no London and the gondolas are definitely no capsules.

8 flowers for this post

A VIP gondola for two looks like it would be an exciting way to join the Mile High Club. (OK, maybe only the 100 metre high club, but it'd still be exciting.)

Hey, good pic of the giant steel. I like. I prefer the wheel to move slowly in 1 round for 10+ min for a good and slow view.

Hi Char, looks more like a ferris wheel.

FFL: Nothing near Mile High.

Hi Rabbit, tell me when you write about it too!

fish fish: Me too. Like I said, it's not London Eye.

Vagus: Apparently, the VIP gondola has leather seats, serves mineral water and it's 13x the price of a normal gondola. NOT WORTH IT!!

Really MeiyeN? Wow, tell me when it's up! Need updates.

Hi Pat, I took some snapshots but they weren't clear at all. That's why I didn't put it up. AND I wasn't seated on the right side of the gondola to snap a perfect view...
