You flickered and gave me hope
Hope and renewed feelings
Forbidden feelings, ruled by lust
Lust for a moment, lust trespassed
You flickered and played my mind
You tempted with erotic sins
You told me that I can find
This bliss, this lingering bliss
You flickered and made me seek
The empty claims and hollow promises
You flickered and claimed unselfishness
But you laced ignorance and died in silence
The flicker of a flame
Burning passion, supressed desires
The flicker of a candle
Once manipulated, paled to smoke
The flicker of a dying bulb
Betrayed trust, heedless follies
You are a fad, a human fad
You are only but a flicker
*as much a player she is as a user he was*
6 flowers for this post
Just for contrast:
I DO not love thee!—no! I do not love thee!
And yet when thou art absent I am sad;
And envy even the bright blue sky above thee,
Whose quiet stars may see thee and be glad.
I do not love thee!—yet, I know not why,
Whate'er thou dost seems still well done, to me:
And often in my solitude I sigh
That those I do love are not more like thee!
I do not love thee!—yet, when thou art gone,
I hate the sound (though those who speak be dear)
Which breaks the lingering echo of the tone
Thy voice of music leaves upon my ear.
I do not love thee!—yet thy speaking eyes,
With their deep, bright, and most expressive blue,
Between me and the midnight heaven arise,
Oftener than any eyes I ever knew.
I know I do not love thee! yet, alas!
Others will scarcely trust my candid heart;
And oft I catch them smiling as they pass,
Because they see me gazing where thou art.

Ah tiger, so, so apt! The verses do describe my mind at times like these. Perhaps I can be an amusing object for your observations? Hope to see you more often...

How's THIS for contrast then
A flicker you may be, but a fad you certainly aren't,
What flickered once will flicker yet, though a fad try but can't,
The folly of humans, thus, in memory do implant:
"You don't want what you can have, what you can't have, you want."

Almost as if you knew what I was thinking about when I wrote what I wrote, Torment. Almost as if you knew who I was referring to. Isn't it always the case where someone "don't want what they can have, what they can't have, they want?" It's the element of thrill. Contrast well presented. I like!

Hi Primrose - there are only 7 deadly sins and 10 commandments. Not hard to figure out what people are going through. We're just all the same, after all, aren't we?
hm..hey..in retrospect, I wrote that poem just for you, but I like it so much I think I'll put it on my blog lah. hahahaha. *egoistic bastard*
